Let’s talk today about supporting your team by giving them your prospects who are ready to join your MLM company.
Recently one of my new team members asked me if we can have an agreement that if I will find some new prospect who is ready to get started to give it away to someone from his team as a form of support. I thought that will be a great topic for a blog post.
I do understand where this person come from- he just care about his people and want to support them as much as possible. I have been there and over the time learnt painful lesson of not doing it this way. I will give you two analogies today to help you understand why you shouldn’t give your prospects to your team.
Mother nature created birds the way they need to crack the egg shell in order to be born. There is a reason for this. Through this tough and painful process birds develop muscles that are required to breathe and fly. So imagine the situation where you want to help these baby birds and you will crack the egg shell to release them. You have made the birth process much easier for them but also you have killed them. You have killed them because they had no chance to develop the muscles and are unable to breathe. Same thing in your network marketing business. When you do everything for your new team members, especially giving them your prospects for nothing than you are killing their entrepreneurial spirit. They will become dependent from you. They will expect you to give them more people. Why should they work if they can have free cash for your hard work? Let’s go further. What if other members of your team will discover that? They will expect you to give them some fresh, free prospects or will become really angry that you are favour selected people in your team. This is really dangerous and you can’t afford to do it.
Second analogy is with the gym. Imagine that you are going to the gym and hire personal trainer. So first day in the gym your trainer is telling you “hey, don’t get too tired, I will do this exercise for you”. Will you expect getting in great shape and having six pack if the trainer will do so? Of course not! Well you hired trainer to SHOW you how to exercise, WATCH you exercising and EDUCATE you further. This is what great trainer is for. Not to exercise for you.
So I hope you understand that your job as their coach and trainer is not to do everything for your team. You must SHOW them how to get more prospects on board. You must WATCH them how they are doing it and correct if something is going wrong. You must EDUCATE them on network marketing business and give them a little bit of inspiration and motivation. That’s how you develop new leaders.
If you really want to enjoy residual lifestyle you must have leaders in your team. You must have people who will be able to go out and produce results. You want your business to grow with or without you. Right? I think so. Well than stop treat your team mates like a kids in kinder garden and start building serious business with them.
